After a Romantic Day at the Zoo, Keke Palmer Has Some Thoughts on Valentine’s Day
Keke Palmer spent Valentine’s Day at the San Diego Zoo with boyfriend Darius Jackson, but she knows that Feb. 14 looks different for everyone. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the “Nope” actress gushed over the adventure that Jackson had planned for them, but she also spoke to her followers about the importance of self-love and the weight of how things appear on social media. “Valentine’s Day should look different for everyone,” Palmer wrote. “It’s an expression of love and we all have our own perspective of what that is. I know romance novels and social media can often have you wrapped up in what it ‘should’ look like. But as we get older I think we all realize it’s more about what it feels like than what it looks like.”
She continued: “So while people may tell you what you should be doing or how today is meant to be spent, I hope your day was filled with love in the way YOU like to receive it! Even if that was solo dolo (cause sometimes the love you need most is from yourself).” Palmer then thanked Jackson for the special day and for “always curating an experience for me that’s uniquely me.” We always appreciate Palmer keeping it real with her followers, but this particular message on this particular day is resonating deeply, as the comments are filled with appreciation for her honesty and transparency. And Jackson is grateful as well. Her boyfriend commented on the post, writing, “1 thing’s for certain.. we are ACTIVE! thank you for being a great companion & always willing to go on an adventure w/ me.”
Their first Valentine’s Day together looks like a special one. The two were first suspected to be dating in August 2021, when Jackson wished Palmer a happy birthday on Instagram, noting that she brought out emotions in him he “didn’t know” he had, and it’s clear Palmer feels the same way. She has been relatively quiet about her relationships in the past, but fans have gotten glimpses of their love on social media over the last few months, and the two are smitten. “Without being too mushy because I HATEEEE THAT, it feels really nice to not be afraid to show this kind of care for someone that I don’t share the same blood with,” she wrote in October.
Palmer and Jackson have celebrated many milestones together – Christmas, birthdays, they even attended the World Series – and now we can add Valentine’s Day to the list. Cheers to their celebration of love in the way that means the most to them.
