Congratulations are in order for Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey! The former Miss Universe and the San Francisco 49ers running back got engaged on April 2, 2023. The couple announced the exciting news with a joint Instagram post on April 7, 2023. “♾️4.2.23♾️,” their caption says. To commemorate the milestone, they also uploaded a series of black-and-white photos from the moment the professional football player popped the question in Utah. The first photo captures the Sports Illustrated model’s candid reaction after McCaffrey gets down on one knee. The next few pictures show the newly engaged duo beaming while holding hands and embracing one another after Culpo accepts the proposal. The final image in the carousel debuts the bride-to-be’s new diamond
The NFL star worked with New York-based Ring Concierge to design a bespoke three-stone diamond engagement ring that suited his future wife’s personal style and personality. “We worked with Christian to thoughtfully design a ring that encompassed Olivia’s trendsetting style while still remaining timeless: a beautiful cut oval flanked with epaulette side stones in a handcrafted gold and platinum setting,” Ring Concierge founder and CEO Nicole Wegman tells Brides. According Page Six, the sparkler is an estimated five or six carats, and its value ranges from $100,000 to $200,000.

Ring Concierge also celebrated the couple’s engagement with a tribute to the couple on Instagram. The jeweler reposted some of the images that the duo uploaded, and the company revealed a better look at the rock in a short video. “CONGRATULATIONS @oliviaculpo and @christianmccaffrey!” the company writes. “So honored to help create your ring. Culpo revealed more details about the special moment on her Instagram Story. “We tried to keep this quiet for as long as possible,” she says. “I’m marrying my best friend. I love you so much, fiancé.” In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in November of 2022, the model opened up about the qualities that made McCaffrey the one. “He’s just the best,” she gushed. “I feel like he is really everything that I could ever ask for, so I never have to worry about anything. I think that was the reason why I didn’t want to date an athlete, no offense, because there is a reputation there. He just comes from a great family. We have a lot in common in that respect. I feel like you can really tell who a person is by the people that raise them, and I just love his parents so much. They have a great relationship.”
The duo first sparked dating rumors in May of 2019 when McCaffrey liked one of Culpo’s Instagram posts. She later shared the the two first met after mutual friends set them up. The model explained in a message celebrating her third anniversary that she was initially hesitant to date at the time, but she decided to give it a try. “I’m so grateful for the voice inside me that told me to give love another chance,” she wrote. “The ying to my yang, you are the epitome of strength through humility. Thank you for being my rock and restoring my faith in love. You are everything I ever dreamed of and more ❤️ ❤️.”
