Julia Fox is not holding back when it comes to discussing her infamous relationship with Kanye West.
The Uncut Gems actor and beloved social media star opened up about her highly-publicized but short-lived romance with West in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. While promoting her forthcoming memoir, Down the Drain, Fox talked about how she initially thought her relationship with West “could be something real.”
“I really understood him on a visceral level,” Fox told the Times of West, whom she dated for about two months in early 2022.

Fox also said she thought her relationship with him would “get him off [Kim Kardashian’s] case.” West was in the process of finalizing his divorce from Kardashian at the time and was increasingly hostile toward his ex-wife and her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.
“I thought ultimately I’d be helping a precarious situation, but I learned very quickly that I was being weaponized,” she continued. “I just felt like his little puppet.”
Fox discusses West in the book and refers to him as “the artist,” according to the Times, but said she actually “went lightly” on writing about their relationship. Some speculated that this may have been due to her signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), but Fox insists that she never signed one.
“I’m not signing a f**king NDA just on principle. I never have, and I never will,” Fox continued. “Unless it’s a professional opportunity, then sure.”
The media coverage of West and Fox was extensive and the pair was shown together at several public events. West famously bought her and her friends Birkin bags for Fox’s 32nd birthday. But while the media frenzy looked overwhelming from the outside, Fox said it “really wasn’t that big of a deal.”
After their breakup, West’s reputation descended further after expressing his extremist, anti-Semitic views, along with his continued public harassment of Kardashian. West’s most lucrative partnerships with Addidas and Balenciaga were severed after both brands cut ties with the rapper over his hate speech. Addidas said in a statement that West’s comments and actions “have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
Since West’s controversy, Fox said that she also felt the heat from once being associated with him and believes she’s been blacklisted in some ways.
“I know for a fact I’ve been up for certain things and couldn’t do it because of dating Kanye,” Fox said. “It’s kind of wild.”
Since her very public relationship, Fox said she’s sworn off men altogether and that she hasn’t had sex in two years.
“I’m so happy. I sleep so well,” Fox said. “That romanticized idea of men doesn’t exist anymore.”
Fox’s memoir Down the Drain is set to be released on October 10.
