Kenan Thompson Wants to Make Sure His ‘SNL’ Career Doesn’t Interfere With Family Time

When Kenan Thompson isn’t playing a single dad in his new NBC sitcom, Kenan, he’s being a real-life dad to his two daughters, Georgia and Gianna, and a husband to his wife of nearly 10 years, interior designer and Mini Supreme actress Christina Evangeline.

Though Christina typically stays out of the spotlight, fans can occasionally catch glimpses of her and Kenan being adorable on Instagram. According to US Weekly, the Saturday Night Live comedian was introduced to Christina via talent manager Danny Estrada. Apparently, the pair hit it off and eventually decided to get married on November 11, 2011 at an aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia.

“[They’re] very happy. They’ve lived together as a couple and were excited to share the moments with close friends,” a source told Us Weekly. “She was thrilled and a beautiful bride.”

Three years later, the two welcomed their first daughter, Georgia, on June 22, 2014. On July 31, 2018, Kenan and Christina had their second daughter, Gianna.

Over the years, Kenan has opened up about his love of fatherhood and how much having his daughters has changed him.

“I think the biggest wake up call is how immediate it is,” he told People last year. “One day you’re not a dad and then the next moment you are. You’re just a dad from that point on.”

He continued: “And definitely, my coolness just got sucked right out of me. I didn’t know … I didn’t even feel it, but I just immediately started wearing black socks and shorts and just being really corny at stores and over-asking questions about items that are super obvious and in my face.”

But he wouldn’t trade any of it. While speaking to Variety ahead of the premiere of Kenan, he made it clear that when it comes to balancing his time with his wife and kids and his career, family always comes first.

“I have a certain number I would love to get to,” Kenan, the longest-tenured comedian on SNL, said about how many seasons he wants to be on the sketch show for. “I think 20 is a good, round, even number that I’m close to. I feel like that is in reach, but also it would be respected if I don’t get there. Like, 18 is fine, 19 is fine. It doesn’t really matter. What matters is, will I have time for my family? There’s only 24 hours in a day.”
